We went to the Gasparilla pirate fest today! Every year they close off the streets along Bayshore in Tampa and there's a "Pirate" invasion where the boats come into the bay... and then there's a big parade.
There are TONS of people that come to this... mostly dressed as pirates
So we decided to do our part and wheel a ship down the street! (and some of us dressed as pirates-ish!)
This fabulous pirate ship (zaneta built) not only looked pretty - but did a pretty terrible job of concealing a keg of beer!
Don't worry, this wasn't illegal... there were lots of kegs and coolers being wheeled around in one way or another,
and a LOT of drunk people... also being wheeled around in one way or another...
And there's the parade... along the bay. Tons of floats and people dressed up like pirates! Throwing beads! Tons and tons of beads! Some of them were really creative and fun. Lot of local companies get in on it - even the Tampa Bay Bucs got in on the action!
Tons of people, tons of food, really good time with lots of friends.
You can tell we did a terrible time at getting beads, some people got so intensely into it - like these girls!
